Healthcare workers like certified nurse aides (CNAs) and home health aides (HHAs) must learn to speak slowly and clearly so patients can understand. Plus, students will learn how to listen to residents and patients. Listening is crucial to achieve proper patient care. Often, patients won’t understand the hierarchy of nursing and medical staff when they’re hospitalized or otherwise incapacitated. As a result, they will try to communicate important health information with nursing assistants or home health aides. This is because these are the healthcare staff members who attend to them most frequently.
